The client came to us with a summer cottage on Sebago Lake which had long been owned by his father.  He wanted to update the cottage for regular use by his family: remodel the kitchen, replace the wood stove and remodel the living room, add a reading area to the master bedroom, remodel the two bathrooms, add dormers to make the upstairs bedrooms comfortable, replace the old windows and improve the aesthetic appeal of the exterior, all on a tight budget and respecting strict shoreline zoning requirements. And he wanted to do the work himself.

We worked with the client to accomplish his goals. The kitchen has been updated and the sink relocated for views to the lake. New dormers and windows improve views and ventilation. The stairwell has been opened with the addition of windows and removal of part of the wall at the bottom. A roof now protects the entry porch, and the path to the lake, passing below the kitchen, feels designed and welcoming.
